21st October 2016 – Review by Rob
This beer is dark strong and well rounded; at 4.9% the richness of such a rotund beer is brought to an even keel by the late addition of Goldings hops and natural plum flavouring.
Take the opportunity and go for the low hanging fruit, this sumptuous beer really is a plum!
Certainly does what it says on the tin, this is a plum porter. Dark ruby in colour, a rich fruity smell, tastes of fruity plum with a hoppy finish. The fruity plum taste takes away the usual inky porter taste, not sure if it’s masculine enough for me, so much fruit you’d be thinking you’ve picked up your wife’s Rioja.
In fact if you like wine you’ll like this, but I prefer to not confuse the two, good attempt in being different, but not my cup of tea I’m afraid it’s far too sweet and fruity for my pallet. A miss for me.
