WYCHWOOD – DUNKEL FESTER

WYCHWOOD BREWERY

DUNKEL FESTER

29th October 2016 – Review by Andy

Described as a exceptionally dark malty beer with a eerie red tinge brewed for those with a fetish for rich flavours. Dunkel Fester from The Wychwood Brewery is brewed for the ever-popular Halloween season.

Dunkel is the name for dark German lager. Uncle Fester of course is the bald headed, dark eyed character from the Addams Family. Put ’em together and what have you got?

THE TASTE

Deep and dark in colour with a frothy head this looks like a porter straight away. A slight touch of coffee to the taste, this hits the spot.

Dunkel Fester is just 4.4% so you would imagine is brewed to be drunk plentiful. That’s not a problem as this goes down a real treat. This rich tasty ale would be the perfect accompaniment to a warming autumn meal.

THE VERDICT

Wychwood have done it again, a seasonal drink brewed for Halloween but one they should perhaps think about bringing out all year round… as is definitely more of a treat than a trick.
