RED RYE IPA
Review by Andy
Another one picked up from my local Aldi, and brewed especially for them, this time by Twickenham Fine Ales – who actually do seem to exist.
Described as a full bodied mouthfeel with hints of passion fruit and peaches, with notes of pine and citrus fruits, this certainly sounds a little different.
Red Rye by name and by nature too, this has the hint of red running through it you’d expect.
Smells like a fruity craft beer/IPA. Initial taste is as the aroma with fruity flavours and a refreshing taste although this does leave a bit of a bitter aftertaste which isn’t the best.
We’ve tried a fair few supermarket brewed beers now and although this is by no means bad, the bitter aftertaste does linger, a better version of a similar beer is definitely the Medusa and it comes in a larger bottle, so if you find yourself in your local Aldi – the choice is a no brainer, really.
