HALL & WOODHOUSE
Review by Andy
The subtle elderflower aromas of this delicately floral brew are reminiscent of a summer’s evening. Golden Champion is a divine all-rounder that is a great companion for smoky, chargrilled chicken and peppery rocket salad.?
A citrusy aroma initially which gives way to a very citrusy almost lemon taste, first thoughts are this reminds me of a lager with a twist of lemon, usually the low in alcohol content type, the sort of thing you drink before your balls drop fully.
Usually from a Badger beer you can taste the uniformity across their range, they are on the light side anyway, however this I wouldn’t automatically associate with them.
For me this has gone a little too far over on the fruity side, and what we have ended up with is more of an alco-pops style beer than what you would expect. I’d like to try this again, in the Summer, on a roasting hot day whilst having a bbq, and see what I think then, however for a cold Winter’s evening, this missed the spot.
