Review by Rob
Boondoggle is an American term first coined in the 1920’s. Boondoggle is a word meaning ‘work of little value’ which we have interpreted to mean ‘Jolly’ or ‘any excuse for a pint’.
A blonde and luscious ale – the perfect excuse. Brewed with the finest English Pale Malt, Goldings, Herkules, Cascade and Styrian Bobek hops.
We take two things seriously at Ringwood Brewery – our beer and leisure time. Along with creating quality craft Ales, we are relaxation enthusiasts. Our motto is to “Visit the Winding Downs” – a place to enjoy some quality time with friends. Our blond Boondoggle is a deliciously fruity ale affectionately crafted to savour and satisfy. Best enjoyed with a few nuts.
Not sure if that’s nuts as in food or nuts as in friends. Described on the bottle as deliciously fruity craft blonde ale, while I’m getting orange lemon pineapple fruitiness in its smell and flavour its missing the blonde in colour, I’d more describe this as an amber ale.
Slight criticism aside this is really quite a good beer, I certainly think this is a refined and understated beer, it would go well with salted assorted nuts (especially cashews) at a traditional pub on the south coast, or your house on a Sunday afternoon while cooking a roast. Either is fine and top marks for this beer, refined in all the right places and enjoyable to drink, go out and find.
