UNITED BREWERIES GROUP
Review by Andy
Kingfisher is India’s No.1, the first choice of the nation from Delhi to Doddanapudi, and the leading Indian beer the world over.
Brewed to an authentic and most venerable recipe for more than 150 years, it is the perfect partnership for the heat and spice of even the richest of curries.
Practice surely does make perfect.
Kingfisher is an Indian beer brewed by United Breweries Group, Bangalore. The brand was launched in 1978. With a market share of over 36% in India, it is also available in 52 other countries. The Heineken Group holds 42.4% equity shares in United Breweries Ltd.
So onto Kingfisher after reviewing its big rival Cobra yesterday, Kingfisher is another massive player in the British curry scene, from what I can work out this was genuinely brewed in India once-upon-a-time, however with Heineken now well involved it is brewed on these shores.
Another perfectly smooth lager we have here, to me Kingfisher has a bit more of a flavour to it than Cobra, again it is an absolute perfect drink to wash down your Indian on a Friday night, it wont bloat you out so you can drink more – result!
I’m not going to compare the two, there is no right answer to the question, which is better Cobra or Kingfisher?, the fact of the matter is that it is down to a personal preference, which do I prefer? Kingfisher – just – for me, not that I won’t happily enjoy a Cobra.
To put it into context for you, the #BeerClub_UK boys went out for a curry recently, of the 8 drinking beer (someone was on vodka & coke – what’s that all about!?) four were drinking Cobra and four were drinking Kingfisher.
So, I suggest you get a bottle of each and make up your own mind!
