GREENE KING SAY…
An easy drinking, refreshing IPA. Fresh dry hop and herbal character is provided by the mix of Challenger and First Gold hops. The use of crystal malt in the grist gives a satisfying toffee/caramel note and the addition of a little black malt adds just enough astringency to give a clean dry finish.
The classic Greene King IPA the original session IPA brewed at just 3.6% this is perfect for an ale drinker who is on an all day jaunt.
A bright copper colour with a small head, a fairly innocuous aroma and a subtle but refreshing taste, this is smooth with no fizz, the IPA that most are compared to.
This is what it is, a mass produced IPA. You’ve probably tried this iconic IPA already, but what kind of a beer reviewing website would this be, if we’d not reviewed it ourselves? This is ok, it’s perfectly acceptable – if it’s on tap and kept well, then this is a fine pint.
However with so much choice out there these days, it’s certainly not my Holy Grail of beers.
